Activity Days 2019 (S1-S3)
At Beeslack, we encourage our pupils to #strivetobe…curious. We work hard to provide opportunities for young people to be involved in a variety of different, and often new, experiences. We are excited to inform you that our annual Activity Days will take place between Wednesday 22 May and Friday 24 May 2019 for S1-3, during which the normal timetabled classes will be suspended.
We are now pleased to offer your child the chance to choose the activities they wish to participate in. Our aim is to engage our young people in a variety of interesting and enriching activities, led and fully supported by school staff. Below is a link to a Google form which will allow your child to choose their first, second, third and fourth choice of activity for each day. The link is also available on the school website, as is the link to a choice booklet, which will give more information about each of the activities. We recommended you and your child read this before making their choices.

handed back to your child’s register teacher, upon completion of the online form. This is to confirm that your child has submitted their preferences online and that you are aware of the maximum cost that may be incurred, depending on the combination of activities allocated. The deadline for returning the slip is Friday 15 March.
Please also be aware that there is support available for young people and families who may require assistance in meeting the cost of the activities. If you would like to discuss this option confidentially, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Donoughue (Depute, Pupil Support) or your child’s Guidance Teacher.
Where possible, we will allocate pupils to their indicated preferences, however, occasionally it may be necessary to assign other activities. Arranging these activities required considerable time and planning and, therefore, we appreciate your cooperation with the online choice process and in returning the slip promptly. Once we have allocated the choices, we will inform you of your child’s activities and payment will be due thereafter.
At Beeslack, we also encourage pupils to #strivetobe…responsible. Pupils are ambassadors for Beeslack, whether on school grounds or out in the community, and participation in the Activity Days is dependent on the ability to demonstrate positive behaviour throughout the school session. House Teams regularly monitor and review attendance and behaviour, and will work closely with learners to ensure they reach the standards required so they may participate in trips and out of school activities. If the House Teams and/or the Headteacher, therefore, feel that a learner’s behaviour or attendance falls short of this standard, parents/carers will be contacted to discuss their participation in the Activity Days.
