Coronavirus: Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) Update
Dear Parents/Carers
The Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) programme aims to provide financial support to 16 to 19 year-olds from lower-income households who are attending school. We wish to reassure parents/carers that in the event of school closure, absence would be considered authorised and therefore based on below guidelines, payments would continue.
'Education providers will be required to record attendance of EMA recipients on days when learning centres are open to students. Where the institution is closed on days when it would normally be open (if learning centre is closed due to unforeseen circumstances) these days should be considered authorised absences.'
We hope this will alleviate any concerns, but please contact the school email address with any concerns or queries. We will send further information relating to Free School Meal Entitlement as soon this is available.
Yours Sincerely,
Amanda Donoughue (DHT Pupil Support)
