Senior Phase Learning Update 6.5.20
Senior Phase Learning at Home Timetable - 11th May 2020
We hope our young people have made a positive start to the summer term as they adjust to the ‘new normal’ of virtual learning & teaching. As previously shared, we have brought forward the change of timetable to allow for pupils to progress into the next level of study at senior phase. SLT & Pupil Support PTs have worked hard to complete all coursing remotely within this reduced time-scale; it has been a significant undertaking, but we are pleased to say that pupils will begin moving to their new virtual year and subject teams week beginning Monday 11th May. Work will continue to be available for pupils, but please note that it may take time for Curricular PTs and their teaching team to set up and implement the new system and to iron out any initial IT issues. We are doing our best to make the process as easy and quick as possible, and appreciate your understanding.
Following positive feedback on our BGE virtual timetable, we have adopted the same approach for Senior Phase. This will help pupils plan and access learning activities for all their subjects across the week, and that due dates for assignments are staggered – as previously intimated in our parent/carer update, we appreciate that families situations and circumstances vary greatly and whilst we encourage young people to aim for 4-5 hours of learning per day, we trust that parents/carers are best placed to decide when it is appropriate for them to do less or more.

Due to recruitment we are unable to provide work for Drama or for courses delivered by Edinburgh College.
WB 11th May, pupils will be invited by their teachers to join new Microsoft teams for their 2020-21 subjects and levels; they are not required to do anything until this point and please be aware this will be ongoing and will take time for all pupils to be transferred. Work will continue to be uploaded in the same way as is being done currently but at the new level; the virtual timetable tells you what days each subject will upload new work for pupils to complete, and means the due dates for handing work back in will be staggered. If you have not been contacted regarding coursing, then your child will have been coursed into the subjects selected on their choice form before school closure.
