Scottish Book Trust Award for Mrs Wren

We are delighted to share the news that our wonderful school librarian, Mrs Wren has won a prestigious national award.

After being nominated by a number of staff in the school, and coming top of a large number of other shortlisted individuals from across the country, Mrs Wren was awarded the Scottish Book Trust Learning Professional of the Year.

This is in recognition of the great work she does promoting reading and literacy in the school and the support she offers all members of our learning community.

The host of the evening spoke of Mrs Wren’s “stellar work” and how she has made the library “the beating heart of the school community.”  A film crew came to the school to create a short film about the work Mrs Wren does and the impact her work has on our young people.  The contributions from pupils and staff were excellent and the film was shown to all attending just before Mrs Wren collected her award, a beautiful glass trophy.

Receiving the award, Mrs Wren spoke of how she was humbled by the honour and also highlighted the joy she finds in her work and the power of books and reading in helping to improve young peoples’ lives.  Her powerful and inspiring speech was very well received and quotes she made were picked up and shared online by publications such as TES, The Bookseller, List and more.

We are very proud of her achievements and it has been lovely to see the reactions of the pupils and staff in school.  We have known for a long time that Mrs Wren is a treasure!
