1. Broad General Education
Pupils in S1 follow a common course where all classes study the same topic simultaneously. The work is differentiated to give support when needed and extension work is also used to challenge all our pupils. The areas of mathematics we study in S1 can be found on our annual timeline/calendar.
To support pupils with common numerical calculations as they work in different curricular areas we have produced a series of posters which are displayed in classrooms and in the S1 pupil school planner.
In June 2019 we successfully bid for an Education Scotland STEM Professional Learning Grant. Over the next two years we will redevelop our whole curriculum from S1 to S3 focusing on SOLO Taxonomy and building on the work we started last session after a visit from Craig Barton (@mrbartonmaths).
Enclosed in this section is our timeline/calendar for S1, a presentation delivered to all S1 pupils explaining how we learn maths at Beeslack and posters explaining how across the school we carry out some common calculations.
