S1-S3 Wellbeing Week 2020

At Beeslack, we encourage our learners to #strivetobe…curious. We work hard to provide opportunities for young people to be involved in a variety of different, and often new, experiences.

We are excited to inform you that our annual Wellbeing Week will take place from Monday 25th May and Friday 29th May 2020 for S1-3, during which our normal timetables will be augmented with additional opportunities for learners.

Year Group Experience Day

Monday to Wednesday learners in each year group will participate in an activity for the whole year group. These activities will encourage our learners to demonstrate our schools values and will be linked to other initiatives including Developing the Young Workforce & Rights Respecting Schools.

  • Monday 25th May: S1 - Rights Respecting Day (Disaster Zone)
  • Tuesday 26th May: S2 - Developing the Young Workforce (Apprentice/ Dragons Den)
  • Wednesday 27th May: S3 - S4 Induction

Mixed Year Group Activity Day

On Thursday 28th May learners will have the opportunity to participate a whole day activity. Our aim is to engage our young people in a variety of interesting and enriching activities, led and fully supported by school staff. Below is a link to a Google form which will allow your child to choose their first, second, third and fourth choice of activity - this should be completed by Friday 13th March. Also below is the link to the choice booklet, which will give more information about each of the activities. We recommended you and your child read this before making their choices.

Student who choose not to participate in a whole day activity they will follow their normal timetable

There is support available for young people and families who may require assistance in meeting the cost of the activities. If you would like to discuss this option confidentially, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Donoughue (Depute, Pupil Support) or your child’s Guidance Teacher.

Sports Day Friday 29th May

will be our annual inter-house sports competition. All students will participate in a range of athletics and field games. Which house will win the trophy this year? Hoy , Livingstone or Stevenson.

Parents/Carers as DYW Partners

You will have received an additional email from Ms. Donoughue (Depute, Pupil Support) requesting parents/carers to get involved in helping support our Wellbeing Week. If you are interested in this, but have not responded to the original email, please just get in touch to let us know.

School Vision & Values

At Beeslack, we also encourage pupils to #strivetobe...responsible. Pupils are ambassadors for Beeslack, whether on school grounds or out in the community, and participation in Wellbeing Week is dependent on the ability to demonstrate positive behaviour throughout the school session. House Teams regularly monitor and review attendance and behaviour, and will work closely with learners to ensure they reach the standards required so they may participate in trips and out of school activities. If the House Teams and/or the Headteacher, therefore, feel that a learner’s behaviour or attendance falls short of this standard, parents/carers will be contacted to discuss their participation in Wellbeing Week.
